Writer in residence to help children get writing

If your child is fascinated by stories and perhaps has ambitions to write one of their own, then we may have just the thing for them in the October half-term holiday.

We’re delighted to host a series of free sessions for 8-12 year-olds with critically-acclaimed children’s author, Sarah Ann Juckes, who will be our Writer in Residence at the Visitor Centre and at other venues in Edwinstowe from Saturday 22nd October to Wednesday 26th October.

Sarah will also be exploring ideas for her own forthcoming children’s book, which is set to include the landscape and heritage of Sherwood Forest and the myth of Robin Hood.

She will also be using other fun activities taking place in Sherwood Forest during the holiday to inspire young people and fire up their imagination and creativity. We’ll be posting details of those activities and other information very soon.

The residency, supported by Miner2Major People of Sherwood project funding, will offer children a chance to engage creatively with the surroundings alongside a practising author, inspiring them to pen their own stories of an area with a rich storytelling history.
