For Families

There’s plenty to do for families with younger adventurers of all ages and interests. Whether they’re Robin Hood fanatics, budding beetle spotters, young nature lovers, or simply bursting with energy, just bring your spirit of adventure!

On any day of the year you can lead your own expedition into the forest, following one of the many paths and bridleways to see where it takes you, or you can use our trails to help you on your way.

Perhaps you’ll pick up one of our children’s backpacks, available for hire for just £3 from the visitor centre and full of useful things.

Or add to the adventure by taking the Wild Challenge – sign up here and you’ll get resources, guides, hints and tips to help you enjoy and record the real magic of the forest.

Time it right to come to one of our special activities … throughout the year we host events including guided walks, led by costumed characters, bug hunts and competitions. There are seasonal events – like spooky Halloween story-telling walks, festive family trails. And don’t forget the Robin Hood Festival

And, if that still hasn’t used up enough energy, you can have bags of fun in our play area and den-building zone near the Visitor Centre.
