Outdoor Cinema – Disney’s Robin Hood

Who doesn’t love this Disney classic?

The animated retelling of the legend of Sherwood Forest has been adored by people around the world for more than 50 years.

We’ve shown it at Sherwood for the past two years and audiences have loved seeing it in the very landscape that inspired the movie.

Did you know that Walt Disney first wanted to make a version of the Robin Hood legend in the 1930s?

Or that the idea of casting the outlaw as a cunning and wily fox came from the Medieval folk tales of Reynard the Fox?

Or even that it was the first Disney movie to not feature a human character?

A box office smash when it was released in 1973, and still enchanting viewers of all ages today with its telling of how Robin, Marian and the outlaws outwit cruel Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham, as they try to squeeze the poor residents of the city for every penny they can.

Join us for this lunchtime screening in the forest which made Robin Hood a legend.
