What is open at Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre?

Your safety and the safety of our staff is incredibly important to us. Please be kind, patient and maintain social distance. Some facilities may need to close for short periods for staff welfare, please be understanding as our reduced team are operating under new and difficult circumstances.

  • Car Parking

The main and accessibility car parks are open 10am – 4pm daily. Parking costs £4, or free to RSPB members, as normal. Please pay at the machines and use the hand-sanitiser available there, the machines accept coin, card and contactless. Please do not arrive by car before 10am as this can cause queuing on the main road.

We continue to limit parking spaces in the main car park. This is to keep footfall low enough to allow social distancing around the centre and trails for the safety of our visitors and our staff.

Once the car parks are full, they are closed. There is extremely limited parking elsewhere so we would urge you to not travel if you live a great distance from Sherwood. If you are planning to meet someone travelling in a different car please be aware that the car park regularly closes for long periods at busy times so some cars in your party may have difficulty parking.

  • Trails

Please follow the one-way signage from the car park, around the centre and trails to enable everyone to maintain social distance.

Some bins are available for small items of waste purchased on site. Please follow the countryside code and take your litter home, particularly for large picnics. Fires and BBQs are not permitted anywhere in the forest or around the visitor centre and car park.

  • Toilet

To enable social distancing, limited facilities are available and a queuing system is place 10am-4pm daily.

  • Food and drink

Light, pre-packaged refreshments and hot drinks are available from our catering van on the amphitheatre 10am – 4pm daily.  This is by contactless payment only.

  • Shop

From Tuesday 14 July the shop is open 10am – 4pm daily. We will be operating a queuing system to limit the number of people in the shop. Please note that we are only accepting card payments.

In accordance with Government guidance, please do not visit if you or any person you live with has any symptoms of coronavirus.

Thanks for your continued support during this time. Stay safe everyone.
