Festival Essentials!

If you are planning to come and visit our Robin Hood Festival next week - fantastic!  Here's a few things which will hopefully make your visit go smoothly! This year's event runs from Monday, August 27 to Sunday, September 2. Please follow the yellow event signage for our car park when you get close to site. It is a very busy event, so we ask that you are patient on arrival.  We want to ensure that everyone gets safely parked and then crosses the road safely too! There is a £5 parking fee, which is payable by all visitors, including RSPB members.  This is the only week during the year that members have to pay to park at the site, but if you bring your membership card and present it in the cafe before 11am, you can claim a free filter coffee or cup of tea, throughout the week of the festival only. We have accessible parking adjacent to the new visitor centre on Forest Corner. This is an outdoor event, so come ready for our unpredictable English climate! Consider bringing with you:

  • umbrella
  • waterproof coat
  • pair of wellies
  • suncream and sunhats
Comfortable shoes are advisable as the action is spread across the site, in woodland and grassy areas, and some paths are uneven. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on lead around the visitor centre and the main festival performance areas. Our cafe in the visitor centre provides a range of hot and cold food, including sandwiches and children's pick 'n' mix picnics, which you can eat in or take out into the forest to enjoy. There's also picnic benches dotted around the forest and plenty of lovely grassy spots to put a blanket down if you wish. Sadly, our new play area won't be available during the festival - but our existing one is still open and just a short walk away - please ask our staff for directions.
