Sherwood is the setting for powerful International Women’s Day music video

Two musicians from Nottingham have released a new song and video filmed in Sherwood Forest for International Women’s Day.

Nyrobi and Chaya, otherwise known as Alt Blk Era, explained:

“We wrote this song because violence against women and girls is still a huge problem in the UK and around the world.

“This song is about being silenced by fear but having autonomy and strength in spirit and thoughts – hence why we have released the track on International Women’s Day.

“We recognise that it’s a really tough and uncomfortable subject – but it’s so, so important for awareness to continue being raised!

“Although this song is about women and girls we strongly believe it will resonate with all, as it is an issue that impacts us either directly or indirectly.

“Our videographer, Ian, from Scruffy Whippet Media put us onto the idea of filming at Sherwood Forest and he couldn’t have suggested a more magical location.

“The lyrics ‘die slowly’ feature in our song and after learning how the oak trees grow for centuries and then die slowly for centuries – it was a perfect fit and such an honour for our music to be connected with this iconic forest.”
