New volunteer role to support others making a difference at Sherwood

We are looking for a volunteer who can connect with others doing voluntary work at RSPB Sherwood Forest and Budby South Forest.

A new Volunteer Co-ordinator will play a major part in helping support our reserve in several different ways, from acting as a point of contact for existing volunteers to enabling potential new recruits to access the information they need to get started.

Advertising and administrative support will also be among the key tasks for the Co-ordinator.

Carol Hallam, Community and Volunteer Development Officer at RSPB Sherwood Forest, explains: “The work of our volunteers is vital in so many ways.

“It helps to maintain our reserve and protect its vulnerable species, and so much more besides.

“Our busy events and activities programme relies on the involvement of volunteers too, and there are roles in our café, shop and office that volunteers already carry out.

“The Co-ordinator role really provides that link between existing and new volunteers, and the staff at the reserve.”

The role will suit a very self-motivated individual, with excellent organisational and communication skills, and is confident about using IT, and who can think creatively and inspire a volunteer team of all ages and abilities.

“Fundamentally, it is about helping us to ensure that our volunteers have a rewarding and enjoyable time with us,” said Carol.

“It’s a fantastic way to broaden or make use of your experience, as well as a wonderful opportunity to make a genuine contribution to wildlife conservation and the environment.”

The closing date for applications is 28th February 2022.
