Latest information regarding Covid-19 restrictions

Our car parks have reopened as of today (Friday, May 22) following the latest Government guidelines.

Please note, there will be limited parking space in both the main car park and our accessible car park in order to maintain the safety of our visitors and our staff during the Covid-19 crisis. These will be open 10am to 4pm and there will be no out-of-hours parking available.

Once the car parks are full, they will be closed and there is extremely limited parking elsewhere on site so we would urge people to not travel if you live a great distance from Sherwood, and to instead enjoy our reserves and green spaces closer to your home for the time being.

Parking charges of £4 (free to RSPB members) will apply. Visitors are asked to pay at the machines and use the hand-sanitisers available there.

A one-way system has been implemented around the main Major Oak path in the forest, and we ask visitors to adhere to this for the safety of everyone on site.

There will be no other facilities open for the time being. This includes the visitor centre, café, shop, toilets and play area.

We are doing this as part of a phased reopening of the reserve, in line with Government guidelines.

Please show respect to other users of the site at all times and especially to our staff, who have been working extremely hard to implement the measures necessary to allow visitors back on site, and who are operating with a much-reduced capacity at present.

Please be patient if the car park is busy at times and always employ social distancing.

Please do not leave litter around our beautiful forest. Many of our staff are furloughed so we are unable to empty bins and would ask that you take your own rubbish home with you. Barbecues are never permitted and threaten not just our special woodland but the safety of all our visitors and staff. Please report any anti-social behaviour you see to a member of staff.

In accordance with Government guidance, please do not visit if you or any person you live with has had any symptoms of coronavirus within the last 14 days. For example a persistent dry cough, high temperature or flu-like aches.

Thanks for your continued support during this time. Please stay safe.
