Winter Solstice

Join us to celebrate the Winter Solstice with a parade to the Major Oak.

Gather with us in a medieval rough band at the Visitor Centre from 2:30pm on Sunday 22nd December. The aim of the rough band is to make as much noise as possible! You are welcome to bring your own pots, pans, sticks and shakers to make a truly memorable din.

As an act of goodwill at this festive time, the Sheriff of Nottingham will proclaim an amnesty for the outlaws of Sherwood. Can you make a big enough noise to attract the attention of Robin Hood?!

Our motley crew of outlaws, Sheriff’s men and forest animals will parade with noise and merriment to the Major Oak. At the oak the Sheriff will hand authority to a Lord of Misrule for the 12 days of Christmas. Craft your own animal mask so when you join the rough band, you can feel like a true citizen of the forest!

Sunday will also be the fourth and final advent Sunday celebration. Join us and the Sheriff of Nottingham at 12pm at the Visitors Centre to light the final advent candle!
